10 Activities to do While in Quarantine by Elizabeth DeGasperis

The common consensus among people I've talked to since we've begun distance learning is that we've certainly taken school for granted. This complaint is completely understandable. Honestly, I feel a bit helpless. I wish I could do something to make people feel better about not only the pandemic itself, but also about being in isolation for such an extended period. Hopefully, this list can make your social distancing a bit more bearable.
Here are 10 activities do to while in quarantine (and bored out of your mind):

1. In a time like this, it's perfectly safe to go outside and enjoy the fresh air (weather permitting, of course). It doesn't matter whether you're going for a run around the neighbourhood or kicking a soccer ball around the front yard - you'd be having fun and getting exercise - always a plus.

2. I know this sounds a bit odd and obscure, but build a time capsule. I honestly have no words for this one, but it's something interesting to try.

3. If you're dying to spend time with someone, look no further than your family. Between work, school, sports, and other activities, rarely do we get to spend time with our loved ones. This is another unintended positive aspect of this situation.

4. I know there's nothing more boring than homework, but at least it's something to occupy your time with, and once you complete it, you have time for any other fun activity you want to do.

5. Try expanding your musical palette - listen to a band or an artist you've never listened to before. Or, spin a record or a cassette tape.

6. Since we're not constantly walking around a large building from class-to-class, it's easy to become sedentary. If you want, incorporate a few minutes of exercise into your schedule.

7. Find a recipe in a book or online and bake something you've never tried before.

8. Even though social distancing requires us to be physically apart from each other, we have numerous other methods of communication we can use. FaceTime a friend for an hour or two or if you're feeling extra creative, write a letter.

9. Try disconnecting from social media. Maybe spend the day just enjoying nature or get invested in an interesting book.

10. Another benefit of distance learning is flexibility. There's no rigid schedule in place, so you're free to complete work whenever you want. During the regular school year, we seldom get an adequate amount of sleep, so take advantage while you can.

  2. I love that we get to chose when we do classes. For example, I can start my day off with more relaxing classes rather than harder classes.
