Can We Rely on Medical Equipment from China- Connor Ailara

On April 4, British cabinet ministers happily anounced that they were purchasing 300 ventilators from China.  Doctors quickly learned that 250 of the ventilators were unsuitable for this situation.  Due to their poor oxygen supply, unfamiliar design, inability to be cleaned, and unclear manuel these ventilators cause patient death.  Additionally, these ventilators are made for use in ambulences not hospitals- where the British government planned on using them.  It is said that none of these ventilators are currently in use.
This isn't the only example of countries facing issues with medical equipment manufactured in China.  In March, the Netherlands recalled 600,000 Chinese made masks after discovering they are not up to the required standard.  In Finland after a multimillion-euro purchase of masks, they found that they were unfit for use in hospitals.  The Spanish government had to withdraw 50,000 COVID-19 testing kits bought form China because they were 30% accurate.  Similarly, Britain ordered 3.5 million testing kits from China that turned out to be unfit for use.
The Chinese government promises to stop the production and delivery of faulty medical supplies.  However, China also claims that the difference in medical standards and European doctor's unfamiliarity with the equipment.  While the faulty equpment is a blemish on China's image they are still a top producer of medical equipment for the world
