Movie Reviews by Hannah Ramos
Quarantine has left me with a lot of time on my hand, which means a lot of time to watch movies that I've always wanted to watch. Every saturday night, I have been watching a movie with my mom so I decided to review the movies that we watched together, and some of the ones that I watched on my own.
The first saturday night Movie that I watched with my mom was Never Rarely Sometimes Always. This move is SUPER deep so if your looking for a lighthearted movie, I would wait to watch this one. To give a general summary, it's about a young girl who wants an abortion, but cannot legally get one in Pennsylvania under her circumstances. So, her and her cousin travel to New York, on their own, and the movie basically follows their journey. This movie brings awareness to a really important topic, and a girl I know stars in it, so got watch!
The next movie I watched was Safe Haven, which was recommeneded to me by some friends. This movie was super intense, and definitely one of my favorites. The story followed this young women who moved into a very very small town to start a new life, and hide from her old one. I don't want to give too much away, but it has a cute romance story and is also very suspenseful and thrilling. Definitely a must watch!
Next I watched a teenage classic, Perks of Being a Wallflower. This movie has a lot of high expectation to it's name and it definitely lived up to them! If you don't already know, this movie is about a teen boy, previously struggling with depression, going into highschool, who joins a group of misfits. The group experiences life together during their highschool years and this may be my favorite movie ever. I HIGHLY recommend this if you haven't seen it already, because it is SOOO good.
With all of the hype around Timothy Chalamet, I just HAD to watch one of his movies. So I picked the the first one I saw that I could watch for free on Amazon Prime, which was Hot Summer Nights. I LOVED this movie and, to put it simply, the movie follows this boy Danny, aka Timothy, as he enters highschool and makes an interesting friend and falls in love with a girl. That description was extremely vague but this movie is insanely good.
So after I watched one Timothy Chalamet movie, I had to watch another, so I watched LadyBird. I hate to sound repetitive but this was also one of my favorite movies ever. The main character is this girl, LadyBird, and we follow her journey through highschool, with struggles between family, friends, and relationships. This is another classic teenage movie that I definitely recommend!
The last movie on my list was Selena. If you didn't know, this is the movie that basically launched Jennifer Lopez's entire career and was also SO good. The movie is a true story based off of the life of Selena, a Mexican-American singer. Before watching the movie, I had not already known the story of Selena, so this movie was super cute and super shocking. Once again, I LOVED this movie too, and you should go watch it too.
I am now realizing that I watched a lot more movies than I thought, but I absolutely loved every single movie, and definitely recommend watching every single one of them.
Excellent! I haven't seen most of these, so maybe I'll check them out!
