Baking - Gabby Canzoniero

Over this quarantine, I haven't had much to do, so I have been baking a lot. Specifically, I have been baking a lot of cakes. So far, five of my friends have had their birthday during quarantine, so I thought that because they couldn't celebrate, I could make a birthday cake for them and deliver it to them.

I made the first birthday cake in March and I was not anticipating having to make any more birthday cakes because I didn't think quarantine would last as long as it has. I tried to make this cake as intricate as I could, by asking my friend her favorite type of cake, frosting, and color so that this would be the perfect cake. I made this cake and then I delivered it to my friend, and I was super happy that it all worked out.

Then, quarantine was still going on about halfway through April, and I realized that it would most likely still be going on for another one of my friend's birthdays, so I decided I would make her a cake, too. I asked her favorite type of cake, frosting, and color so that this could be her perfect birthday cake. I made the cake and then I delivered it to her house on her birthday and she loved it. I was sure that this would be the last birthday cake I made for one of my friends during quarantine, but I was wrong.

The quarantine stretched into May, and this was something I had been dreading since I made my very first birthday cake back in March. This is because three of my friends have a birthday in May, and they are all within six days. I accepted that I would be doing a lot of baking that week, and I separately texted my three friends asking for their favorite type of cake, frosting, and color. For these three friends, my friend group was planning a surprise birthday driveby, but I couldn't make it to the first two drivebys, so I just delivered the birthday cakes on their birthdays when I was able to drop off the cake. For my last friend, I was able to make it to the driveby, so I had to give her the cake I made through my car window, but it all worked out.

Two more of my friends have birthdays during June, but after that, I have a while until I would have to make any more birthday cakes. I love baking, but I also love being able to deliver birthday cakes to my friends especially since we can't celebrate their actual birthday.
